The Brainstorming Tour, Powerful Voices for Montessori Education

In this tour Dr. Laura Flores Shaw and Dr. Steven Hughes will lecture on the outcomes of Montessori education in our changing world.

 Thursday 12 april 2018  15.30 uur

Location:  Wibauthuis Wibautstraat 3b 1091 GH Amsterdam , WBH 02B09

Dr. Laura Flores Shaw: “Montessori for All Brain Types”
Designing optimal learning environments for all children requires an understanding of the interconnected growth of body, mind, and brain, and no educational approach offers a neurodevelopmental experience comparable to Montessori. Dr. Shaw brings a new, compelling, and accessible framework that helps everyone understand the unique power of Montessori pedagogy for children – with all types of brains.

Dr. Steven Hughes: “Surviving School Testing: Documenting Montessori’s Unique Outcomes”
The “Global Education Reform Movement” has tried to improve school outcomes by simply focusing on academic testing. It ignores the importance of school experiences that promote non-academic outcomes, such as social and emotional growth, life skills, self- knowledge, problem solving, and even character. Learn how non-traditional measures documents Montessori’s unique outcomes, and bring Montessori to more children.

In cooperation with The Montessori Institute Prague and the Center for Research on Developmental Education The Brainstorming Tour event will be organized in Amsterdam by de Hogeschool van Amsterdam (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences) and Montessori Europe. The date for this event is 12 April 2018, 4pm – 6 pm. Location is the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, Wibauthuis, Wibautstraat 3, Amsterdam. After the lectures there will be a network meeting.
